1. Who we are

GoodWordText is a trade name of BridgeComm Unity Networks. In these terms, "we", "us" and "our" mean BridgeComm Unity Networks, doing business as GoodWordText. "You" means the person using the service.

Our mailing address is 4400 Brownsville Rd, Ste 105 PMB 3201, Powder Springs, GA 30127, United States.

BridgeComm Unity Networks also operates text services named HomewardText and Lazos Familia. Each service has its own terms.

2. What GoodWordText does

GoodWordText is a text-message service for families and church members of people in U.S. prisons and jails. You text a dedicated number. We send your words, exactly as you wrote them, into the facility's electronic messaging system. Replies come back to you as texts. You can also order extras such as photo prints, greeting cards and article lookups, and paper mail on request.

We are not a facility, and we are not part of any government agency or facility messaging company. We can't promise that any facility will accept, deliver or allow a message, or how long delivery will take.

3. Who can use it

You must be 18 or older and live in the United States to use GoodWordText. You may only sign up a mobile number that belongs to you. You may not sign up anyone else's number.

4. Facility accounts and your permission

To send messages into a facility, you hold your own account on that facility's electronic messaging system. You give us written permission to send messages through your account on your behalf. We walk you through this.

You are responsible for following the facility's rules and the rules of its messaging system. You can take back your permission at any time by cancelling. We keep your sign-in details only in a secure password manager, never in our everyday records, and we use them only to send and receive your messages.

5. Text messages

If you tick the box on our sign-up form, you agree to get texts about your GoodWordText account at the number you gave, including messages from the person you're connecting with and updates about your service. We send one confirmation text first and nothing more until you reply YES. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply HELP for help or STOP to cancel. You don't have to agree to texts to use this website or to buy anything.

6. Plans, the free trial and renewal

Each plan is for one person inside:

• Essential: $9.99 a month. Up to 2 family phone numbers, unlimited texts, article lookups. Photos are printed at add-on prices.
• Plus: $19.99 a month. Up to 4 family phone numbers, unlimited texts, article lookups, and 10 free 4x6 photo prints a month.
• Family: $29.99 a month. Up to 6 family phone numbers, unlimited texts, article lookups, 20 free 4x6 photo prints a month, and birthday and holiday reminders with help picking and writing cards from GoodWord Helper. Reminders are off until you turn them on.

Free prints count against 4x6 prints only.

Free trial: every plan starts with a 48-hour free trial. After the 48-hour free trial, your plan renews at its monthly price ($9.99, $19.99 or $29.99) until you cancel. We text you a reminder before the trial ends.

Automatic renewal: your plan renews every month and we charge the payment method on file until you cancel. You can cancel anytime online at goodwordtext.com/account.

Payment: card or digital wallet only. Our payment processor handles your card details; we never see or store your full card number.

Price changes: if we ever change a price, we tell you before the new price applies to you, and you can cancel before then.

7. Cancelling and refunds

• You can cancel anytime online at goodwordtext.com/account.
• If you cancel within 7 days of your first charge, we refund that charge in full.
• After that, there are no partial refunds for the rest of a month.
• If a facility blocks or pauses messages, we pause your plan and you are not charged for the pause.
• Photo prints and cards that have already been sent can't be refunded.

8. Church and ministry sponsors

A church, ministry, chaplaincy or reentry program (a "sponsor") may pay for seats. A sponsored seat is $7.99 a month per seat when a sponsor pays for 5 or more seats. A seat includes everything in the Essential plan. Sponsors are billed monthly per seat and can lower seats or end at any time by contacting us through the form at goodwordtext.com/churches.

A sponsor pays but never signs anyone up, never enters anyone's phone number, and never gives permission to text on anyone's behalf. We give sponsors seat codes. Each person enters their own number and gives their own permission. A sponsor never sees anyone's messages.

If you use a seat code and it's confirmed, your sponsor covers your seat and you won't be charged for it. If a sponsor ends a seat, we tell you first. You are never moved to a paid plan unless you choose it.

9. Add-ons

You can add these to any plan or sponsored seat. They are charged to the person who orders them, and nothing is charged without your say.

• 4x6 photo print: $0.25 each.
• Letter-size print: $0.50 plain or $1.00 glossy.
• Extra family phone number: $3 a month.
• Greeting card: $3.99 each.

Article lookups are included in every plan and seat.

10. Unlimited texts and fair use

Unlimited texts are for personal messages between you and your family. We may pause accounts that send automated, bulk or commercial messages.

"Unlimited" applies to texts only. It doesn't apply to prints, cards or other add-ons.

11. GoodWord Helper, our automated assistant

Every plan and sponsored seat includes GoodWord Helper. It is an automated assistant, not a person. It can answer questions, check order and print status, tell you whether the facility has paused messages, help you change your number or cancel, warn you before a trial or renewal charge, and turn the daily good word on or off.

• You can reach a person at any time by texting PERSON. Send PERSON and GOODWORD OFF to your GoodWord Helper number, not your regular GoodWordText number. Your regular number passes every message to the person inside word for word, so the helper has its own number.
• Safety concerns, billing disputes and facility blocks are always handled by a person.
• GoodWord Helper talks only with you. It never writes to the person inside, and never poses as anyone.
• It never changes your messages. If it helps you draft a card or note, nothing is sent until you approve the exact words.
• It never talks with a sponsor about anyone's messages.

12. The daily good word

The daily good word is an optional short, encouraging text sent to you each morning. It is free on every plan and seat. It is off unless you turn it on, and it is sent only if you have also agreed to texts. Text GOODWORD OFF (or ask GoodWord Helper) to stop the daily good word. Texting STOP stops all texts from us. Send PERSON and GOODWORD OFF to your GoodWord Helper number, not your regular GoodWordText number. Your regular number passes every message to the person inside word for word, so the helper has its own number.

13. What you agree not to send

You agree not to use GoodWordText for:

• sports picks, betting or gambling;
• looking people up or finding someone's personal details;
• asking for or arranging money;
• messages about other people who live in a facility;
• messages between two people who are both in custody;
• threats, harassment, anything illegal, or anything that breaks a facility's rules.

We may refuse to send a message, or close an account, if it breaks these rules.

14. Facility rules and pauses

Each facility sets its own rules, and may read, hold, refuse or delay messages. Facilities can change their rules or stop outside messages at any time. When that happens, we pause your plan and you aren't charged for the pause.

15. Your privacy

Our Privacy Policy explains what we collect and how long we keep it. In short: we send your words exactly as written, delete message words and pictures after 90 days, and never sell your information.

16. Limits on our responsibility

We work hard to get every message through, but we provide the service "as is". To the extent the law allows, we aren't responsible for delays, holds or refusals by a facility or its messaging system, or for losses that come from them. If we are responsible for a problem, the most we owe you is what you paid us in the 3 months before it happened. Nothing in these terms takes away rights you have under the law that can't be waived.

17. Ending your use

You can stop at any time. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms or a facility's rules.

18. Georgia law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Georgia, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute will be handled in the state or federal courts located in Georgia, unless the law where you live gives you the right to bring it there.

19. Changes to these terms

If we change these terms in a way that matters, we tell you before the change applies. The date at the top shows the latest version.
